Why imports are different
Parts catalogues, electrical systems, climate calibration, fuel mapping and emissions equipment on Japanese domestic market (JDM) cars do not always match the Australian delivered model of the same name. A workshop that only knows the local version will guess on parts and miss faults that are obvious to a workshop that has done the model before. We know the common failure points and the parts suppliers (Just Jap, Amayama, Nengun, Yahoo Japan Auctions) to get the right component the first time.
Modified vehicles welcome
Aftermarket turbo, exhaust, ECU, fuel system, coilovers, big brakes, roll cage. We work on modified cars every week. We are not a dyno tune workshop ourselves but we work closely with reputable local tuners and can prepare the car so the tune actually goes well. If you have bought a modified car and want to know what is actually under the bonnet and whether it is safe and reliable, a pre-purchase inspection or first service is the right place to start.
Rotary, RB, JZ, SR, 4G63, EJ
Each engine family has its quirks. RB engines need a clean cooling system and quality oil at every service. JZ engines are tough but suffer from ignition coil and CPS failures with age. SR engines need fresh oil and care around the oil pump drive. 4G63 needs proper balance shaft delete or replacement on rebuilds. EJ engines need ringland aware tunes and the right oil weight. Rotaries need premix or a working OMP, fresh plugs, and honest compression checks. We talk through what your engine actually needs, not a generic service.
Roadworthys on modified cars
We are honest about what passes and what does not. Tinted windows, lowered ride height, non standard exhausts, aftermarket steering wheels with no airbag and bolt in roll cages all have specific rules under the VicRoads Vehicle Standards Information sheets. We will tell you up front what needs to come off the car for the roadworthy and what can stay.
